The Orthopaedic Research Institute has extensive facilities for the testing and evaluation of materials, devices, instruments and components.  Evaluations are conducted as “bench top” (mechanical) tests and performance evaluation including tests in simulated biological and atmospheric environments and human cadaver testing.  Consumer/user acceptance and focus group evaluations can also be conducted.  In addition, these testing modalities are backed up with state of the art computational engineering design and analysis capabilities.  Our interdisciplinary setting has proven to be a stimulating and productive venue for solving problems related to health, recreational and consumer products and devices.

       Products that have been evaluated in our laboratories are eligible for the Orthopaedc Research Institute Seal of Approval.  This Seal serves as a hallmark of excellence and is awarded only to products that have been subjected to critical testing and have been found to meet established standards for effectiveness, functionality and longevity.  In addition the performance claims of the producer have been scrutinized and have been shown to be accurate and valid.  In short, customers who purchase and use products with this Seal of Approval are assured that the product meets the legal and ethical requirements for functionality in performance and truth and accuracy in advertising. Test results are available to consumers as on-line reports.
