The
Orthopaedic Research Institute is a Kansas corporation that is wholly
owned by the Via Christi Regional Medical Center. The
Medical Center is the largest hospital in Kansas and together
with its several research arms is located in the city
of Wichita. The Institute is
devoted to applied research and
development in support of orthopaedics
and other medical specialties. The
institute has a strong emphasis
in the design, development and testing
of orthopedic implants, surgical
instruments, and related hardware
and software systems. The ORI also
engages in educational and publishing
activities for the dissemination
of medical information to the public
and of technology to the medical
community. The Institute's staff
and affiliates include physicians,
engineers, materials scientists,
technicians, resident surgeons,
graduate students and consulting
faculty members from several universities
who collaborate in a stimulating
interdisciplinary environment.
